How beautiful is this? Have you ever seen this colour on an R107? This is a 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380SL, finished in the rare combination of Pastel Beige with Cream Fabric Interior and Black Soft Top. What is interesting is that we have a nearly complete history for her, going back to the original purchase invoice! She has covered only 78k Miles from new and is in a lovely condition!

In 1971 Mercedes-Benz launched a new range of convertible sports cars to replace the much loved Pagoda. Longer and wider than its predecessor the new R107 chassis featured front and rear crumple zones to meet the latest crash protection standards and was, inevitably, heavier. Like its forebears the newcomer was more sports-tourer than outright sports car and came equipped with all-independent suspension. At first fitted with 3.5 and 4.5 litre V8 engines Mercedes nimbly responded to the 1973 oil crisis by introducing a 2.8 litre model in October 1974. Bursting onto the scene in 1980, the 380SL was a replacement for the 280SL with a revised V8 engine focused on fuel efficiency rather than out and out power. The 380SL would continue until 1985 where it would be replaced by the 420SL. This 380SL’s 3.8-litre, 215bhp and 221lb/ ft of torque delivers a top speed of 134mph, which is mightily impressive for a car that was designed for comfort rather than speed.

Our beautiful car was supplied new by Crown Motors, the Official Mercedes-Benz dealer in Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire. She has only had seven previous owners from new, each having looked after the car and left it better than before. Our car has some desirable options such as the Automatic Gearbox, Electric Windows and Colour Coded Hard Top. The soft top has been replaced recentyl and is like new. There is a huge service history with hundreds of invoices going back to new. The interior is beautiful and the paintwork is very good indeed with only minor areas to attend to. The whole condition of the car is beautiful and quite amazing at this price point. All in all, a lovely 380SL, super low mileage, incredible history,  the big V8 engined one, in an amazing rare colour scheme, serviced and ready for her new home! The previous owner paid considerably more for her and she has had a fortune spent on her, including £10k at the SL Shop a few years ago! The nicest example we have seen in a long time!
