Here we have a great value little Fifties sportscar! This is a 1953 MG TD Midget, Right Hand Drive, finished in Red with Beige Leather Interior. She is showing 23k Miles on the clock and has been subject to much restoration over the years, she is totally solid and runs and drives well, just needing a little cosmetic finishing to complete the restoration. A Valuable Number Plate "OKD 99" comes with the car, this is a great way to add value!

"The Midget is the survival of what, in the opinion of many people, is the right sort of small sports car. It caters for those who look upon motoring not as a means to an end, but as an end in itself. Many thousands of these little cars are succeeding admirably in providing their owners with something that will, at one moment, journey forth and do the shopping and, at the next, take part in serious competitive events or tackle a 400-mile journey with zest." The Autocar, 15th May 1953.

The penultimate T-Series Midget, the TD first appeared in 1949. A larger and more refined car than its predecessors, the TD owed much to the contemporary Y-Type saloon, using a narrowed and modified version of the latter's box-frame chassis, upon which sat an all-new body - roomier than before but retaining the classic looks of the traditional MG sports car and the proven XPAG four-cylinder engine. This saloon parentage was far from a handicap, for the Y-Type was a later and considerably more advanced design than the TC Midget, employing independent front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, which vastly improved handling and ride quality on the TD. Widely beloved, particularly in its target US market, the MG TD became the 'gateway drug' for an entire generation of sports car enthusiasts and a staple of early post-war American sports car racing competition.

Our car comes with the valuable, transferable Number Plate: OKD 99, and has been in the UK since the Eighties, she has only had 3 owners in the last 40 years! a Mr Douglas Gibbons based at RAF Wittering owned the car until the Eighties and then a Mr. Mattews of Heathfield owned the car for the next 35 years! The car was subject to a restoration in 2015 which stalled a few years ago and you now find her in a very nice solid condition, albeit with original seats with much patina! The chrome is good, she rides on new tyres, drives well and just needs a soft top, carpet set, and a few other little items to complete, athough you can hop in a drive her as she is today. The cheapest out there and actually one of the nicest! A good opportunity to add value and finish the job!
