This is a very rare and important Scottish car. It is a 1914 Arrol Johnston 11.9hp Tourer. This car is on the market for the first time in 48 years! It has been in the same family since 1961 when it was rescued by the father of the previous owner, passing on to the son in 2002. The car is registered K4651 and has a VSCC dating of 1914. The vehicle was found in Ludlow in 1961 and was originally a four seater Tourer, there was very little of the rear body left so it was restored as a 2 seater with Dickey as you see it today. The car was used extensively in rallies and Prescott hillclimbs throughout the sixties with photos and programs included in the history file. The car was stored for many years although participated in the Arrol Johnston centenery in 2002 and following a period of recommissioning climbed the Paisley test hill as part of the celebrations.

The car runs and drives nicely but due to very little recent use we would recommend a period of recommissioning although the car was seen last year by Royles for some light work. This is a very rare opportunity to buy a car that has not been on the market for many years and in fact there have been very few Arrol Johnstons of any type available for sale in the last 10 years.

Interior:
Our car is finished in Red leather and has a very nice feeling of age to it. The car has a selection of instruments and the dickey seat is also in good condition. It is not a fresh leather interior, but a very old restoration.

Exterior:
This car is finished in light grey and shows as an older restoration. The paint finish is flat and dull but completely presentable. If you prefer an older original condition for your car, you will love this
. The soft top is very fragile and will probably tear if forced, this would benefit from replacement. The car is completely solid and strong and the tyres and wheels are all OK.

Mechanical:
The car has covered very few miles in the last few years and whilst everything works, the car runs and drives well, we would recommend a period of recommissioning before being put to lengthy use as we simply ahev not driven the car very far. The car has some work carried out last year by Royles just to prepare the car for the summer.

Summary
This is a rare opportunity, you may have to wait another 48 years for this car to become available again! Arrol Johnston is one of the great Scottish marques and to find any car on the market is a rare thing. This is an older restoration which runs and drives well and could be used as is or restored, as you choose. These cars have a great following and we are expecting a lot of interest in this example.
